What Cloud Technology Can’t do Today

cloud computing maturityIt is quite easy to understand why companies and business sectors consider cloud technology as their “hope” for the future.

The impact of technological advancements has completely changed the way people manage their businesses. With the evolution of cloud technology, the promise of convenience and minimal effort in managing a business has earned global interest. Cloud computing integrates existing technologies like centralized data centers, utility computing and distributed computing in order to enable businesses, whether big or small, to avail of I.T. services in an easier and more convenient way.

The question is; can cloud technology absolutely change the manner in which people manage their companies and businesses?

Cloud technology, or cloud computing for that matter, can be regarded as a breakthrough evolution in the field of I.T. services outsourcing. However, it has its own pitfalls or “flaws” that need some amount of polishing in order to maximize its potential and for it to deliver what it promises.

Looking at the cloud computing model closely, it has technological issues that need to be addressed. For instance, the business models need to be refined and developed to stand up to its claims. Apparently, it still lacks maturity in some sense. Naturally, people expect something bigger than just an integration of the various and existing business approaches. There has to be something more.

The technology behind cloud computing is expected to make business innovation possible, provide additional business value on a long-term basis and keep up with the ever-changing needs of every business.

At this point in time, cloud technology still needs to reach a certain level of maturity in order to keep up to its promise and to constantly provide something bigger for the future – one that cannot easily be replaced by another form of technological innovation. Other concerns about cloud technology that need close attention are; security, instability of its cost structure, and integration issues. It may also need to formulate a suitable exit procedure to change from Cloud Service Provider. Lastly, in order to make it a valuable technological resource, its business flexibility should be increased or expanded.

Much can be expected and looked forward to in Cloud Technology.

Cloud Technology is currently “the bomb” in the field of business management. It promises something big for the future and is indeed a breakthrough. However, the potential risks and challenges should not be ignored. They should be addressed accordingly and effectively. It takes time, effort and continuous testing to perfect technology. Still, it is important to overcome these risks and challenges in order to deliver the promised benefits of cloud technology.
